About Aslam Khatri
ASLAM KHATRI
Aslam Khatri is a Pakistani-Canadian entrepreneur, author, and podcast host with over 55 years of experience in finance, business development, and building companies across borders.
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, and immigrated to Canada as a young man, Aslam has spent a lifetime at the intersection of ambition, loyalty, and the hard lessons that experience teaches and books cannot.
His new novel — Scorpion — arrives Fall 2026. It is the story of a decade he spent building a public company alongside a brilliant, self-destructive entrepreneur. A story about loyalty, cost, identity, and what survives when everything else falls away. It is true, told as fiction, because fiction was the only container honest enough to hold it.
He is also the author of A Matter of Destiny, Passion or Wish — a reflection on resilience, purpose, and a lifetime of lessons learned the hard way.
Aslam hosts The Growth Gap on YouTube and Spotify — conversations about mindset, entrepreneurship, and the gap between where you are and where you are capable of going.
He writes regularly on Substack at The Suitcase — essays about the immigrant experience, the writing life, and what a long life in business quietly teaches you.
He lives in Canada.
Scorpion
A novel
I spent a decade beside a brilliant, self-destructive man.
I watched him build something extraordinary and then, piece by piece, dismantle it — and himself. I gave that decade everything I had. My time, my loyalty, my judgment, my best years of professional life.
When it was over I had something no business school teaches and no book had prepared me for.
Scorpion is that story — told as fiction because fiction was the only way to tell it honestly. It opens with a form letter closing a door. It travels back twenty years to Dhaka. It moves forward through a decade that cost more than I knew I was paying.
At its heart it is a novel about loyalty — what it means to give yourself completely to someone else's vision, what it costs, and what it teaches you about yourself when it is over.
The title comes from a fable. A scorpion asks a hippopotamus to carry him across a river. Halfway across, the scorpion stings him.
But this is my nature.
